Outpatient Partial Knee Replacement
What You Need To Know
The OJRCA Method
A partial knee replacement is a surgical treatment option that replaces or resurfaces only the damaged portion of the knee while maintaining knee ligaments and cartilage that are not affected by degenerative arthritis.
In this surgical procedure, a prosthesis (implant) takes the place of the affected portion of the knee. During the procedure, the surgeon will make a small incision to gain access to treat the affected compartment of the knee. The supporting structures of the knee are gently moved out of the way, which allows the surgeon access the arthritic compartment of the joint. Following this removal, the surgeon will prepare the surfaces of the knee to place the prosthesis.
